Hatchery

The Cambodia Crawfish Hatchery is located in Ta Sau Village in the middle of a vast rice farming area in Prey Veng province.

The high-quality hatchery building was finalized in 2021 and the state of the art RAS equipment was tested and working early 2022. After 6 months operation it was evident that a RAS system is too expensive and complicated compared to its advantages.

An indoor open cement pond system was built to replace the RAS. This more traditional open pond system delivers the same hatchery capacity at much lower investment costs and much lower operation costs.

In the hatchery we ensure that our Crawfish live in stable conditions, including optimal temperature, pH and Oxygen level.  This combined with high quality feed, makes our Crawfish Juveniles strong and resilient, leading to high survival rates during transport and excellent survival and growth rates during grow-out.

The hatchery can deliver up to 8.000 Crawfish babies (fries) every day - 3.000.00 per year. The installation and equipment are modular and therefore the capacity can be easily extended as needed within the existing building.

Organic

Healthy Crawfish Dish

The hatchery uses very little electricity and water. No chemicals are used to grow the crawfish. The little 'waste' and water coming from the system is actually valuable and can be used as fertilizer anywhere.

Beautiful Technologist

High Productivity & Low cost

Our Crawfishes are produced without the use of chemical fertilizers, antibiotics, pesticides, or other artificial chemicals.

Crawfish Fries

High Survivability

The hatchery can be operated with less than one full time employee. Due to the simple equipment and technology, the operator does not need a university degree and repairs can be done locally.

Compared to traditional Crawfish baby rearing in large lakes and ponds the hatchery has a much lower mortality rate. The Crawfish fries and juveniles in the hatchery have a survivability of around 80% compared to 20% for the traditional systems.
